Race & Diversity at Burberry

Unsurprisingly, these images sparked a broader conversation on race and the campaign was widely hailed as a positive step forward for ethnic diversity in fashion.

Following the pairing of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne for the My Burberry fragrance campaign in September, the British brand once again coupled an iconic supermodel with a new star for its Spring/Summer 2015 advertisements. In what was Naomi Campbell’s first Burberry shoot since 2001 and the fourth for 24-year old Jourdan Dunn, this is the first time the house has launched a campaign starring exclusively black models. Sporting the label’s classic trench and this season’s taffeta tiered frocks and colour-blocked bags, the British beauties were lensed, as usual, by Mario Testino.

Record Breaking Gerhard Richter

A new record has been set for a work sold by a living European artist after an anonymous US buyer paid £30.4m for an oil-on-canvas by one of our favourite artists, German painter Gerhard Richter

The work, painted in 1986 and called Abstraktes Bild , went under the hammer at Sotheby’s in London, where it easily surpassed its £14m-to-£20m estimate.

Constellations by our favourite playwright, Nick Payne, hits Broadway with rave reviews.  Starring Jake Gyllenhaall and Brit Ruth Wilson, “Constellations” is a supremely articulate play; it knows that words inevitably fail, that they are never enough to bind two people together forever. Time, it turns out, is a more effective breaker of hearts than human beings, with all their conflicted intentions, can ever be. This story of parallel universes is universal in every sense of the word.

Je Suis Charlie - French Fashion Unites

The fashion industry in France has united in supporting the Je Suis Charlie campaign.  We think that all national papers should do the same and simultaneously publish the offending cartoon.

Baby for Blake

The lovely actor and entrepreneur (sic Preserve) Blake Lively has produced her little sprog earlier than expected.  We await news of the name although pictures of the baby are unlikely.  Pictured is Blake looking her usual stylish self despite a very large bump.  Congratulations from all at The Fashion Bloggers.
