Baring All for Arts Sake



Model turned photographer  Annemarieke van Drimmelen’s portraits document the downtime of fashion’s top faces.  Shot in black and white the images portray models as the people they really are stripped of the props of high fashion shoots and catwalk shows.  The imges attempt to blur the line between documentary and fashion portraiture.  Story and images:  Nowness

Ms. Keith Richards and Mrs. Duran Duran join forces

Theodora Richards, daughter of Rolling Stone's  Keith, has joined forces with Pamela Skaist-Levy  (Mrs. John Levy, musician, film director and producer) and Gela Nash-Taylor, (Mrs to Duran Duran’s John Taylor) the founders of Juicy Couture to promote the latest Skaist-Taylor collection in a video based loosely on Californian dream days.  NEPOTISM - surely not!

Secret Viewing of Dolce & Gabbanas Couture Collection

After 27 years, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce have achieved a level of commercial and creative success with their ready-to-wear lines, perfumes, cosmetics, sunglasses, bags and shoes that means they can do what they want. And having been everywhere, seen it all and bought the yachts, what they want now is their own couture line, Alta Moda.

Silver Threads etc. from CHANEL

Lagerfelds AW collection for Chanel, shown on the Paris catwalk last week, ticked all the boxes for fans of this ladylike investment label. Tweeds were threaded through with Lurex for a luxe look.  Those with less cash to splash, can get the Chanel look with Silver Lurex Tights and lattice work snoods.  We're plumping for the Katherine Hepburn style pants in tweed  teamed with a short belted jacket this winter ....

Herzog & de Meuron strike again at Tate Modern


Open today are the underground Tanks at Tate Modern,  the world’s first museum galleries permanently dedicated to live art.
 ‘These underground chambers are simply extraordinary spaces.’ The Guardian
Three underground oil turbines, a remnant of the old power station, form the foundation of  new iconic building to be added to the south of the existing Tate Modern gallery. Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, it will present a striking combination of the raw and the refined, found industrial spaces and twenty-first-century architecture. The building will rise 64.5 metres above ground in 11 levels. It will double the exhibition and display space in the gallery, integrate spaces for learning and engaging with art, and create new social spaces.

Raf Simons First for Dior


Paris July 2013 - New Creative Director at Christian Dior, Belgian Raf Simons has injected his eye for clean sharp lines - honed at Jil Sander - into a house established for its femininity.  "Absolutely poetic.  Today was a beautiful marriage between a designer and a house" said Alber Elbaz of the Spring 2013 couture collection.
